The unique core skills of occupational therapists (OT's) are largely hidden.
They are the reasoning skills used to apply the understanding of occupation and its impact on health and well-being to formulate interventions that lead to Independence, Self-determination and Achievement of new skills and/or greater Competence of a Task.
The use of meaningful activities and occupations with clients to improve their lives is always client directed by HIHS OT's.
While some activities can appear mundane or ordinary to an onlooker, forming the rationale for their use and potential benefit is the unique core skill and creativity of occupational therapists.
